Mrs. Patti Dunne - Seamstress

Information regarding the embroidery on a maniturgium

Since this is a “custom” designed article, I can’t give a very accurate estimate as to the cost of the embroidery, but I think it’s reasonable to figure on it being somewhere between $40 and $130 (in addition to the $10 cost of the maniturgium itself).   Pricing is based on the stitch count.   So the font style, the size, the length, a logo, etc., all make a difference.  (The color of the thread doe not.)
In general:  1/2" name is about $30 to $35, depending on the length;   and 1/2" date is about $20 to $25

The procedure is:
a) You will need to give me as many details as possible from the list below.  The better you plan it out ahead of time, the less time we all have to spend with going back and forth for clarifications.

b) I’ll send your details to the embroiderer.

c) Once she figures it out, she'll send me both the price and a picture(s) of it all stitched out according to the color, size, and layout specified.  This can take anywhere from three to six weeks or so, depending on her schedule.  So it will require patience!

d) I will forward these pictures and prices to you for your review.

e) Once you look it over very carefully, you either give your approval, suggestions for changes, or a cancellation.  If it's more expensive than you figured on, you might want to consider reducing the size. (1/2" is the smallest you can go.)  Y
ou are under no obligation until you send the payment.

f) Once everything is agreed upon, you can send the payment via Venmo (@pattidunneseamstress), check or money order.  The actual work will not begin until I have received the payment.

The first thing to remember is the details about the maniturgium itself.

-
It is about 4.25" wide and about 52” long.   (Custom sizes are available upon request.)
-
We need a hem allowance/clearance at the top, at the bottom, and on each of the two ends.
-
This leaves you with a working space of about 3.25” high and about 50” long.
-  However, if you’ll be having more than one line, the space(s) between the lines will also need to be factored in.
-
So do the best you can, but we’ll work with you until everything is to the satisfaction of both parties.

Here’s the information that you’ll need to send me:
1)  Write out what you want written and exactly the way you want it – name, date, verse, etc. – including the use of capitals and punctuation (see the example below).

2)  If you want any symbols, – crosses, Marian logo, etc. – you’ll need to send a picture of it as an "attachment" at the bottom of the email so it can be downloaded.  However, if it is already pictured on the website, simply refer the number of the picture (i.e. 2-C;  5-A).  You’ll also need to tell where it will be located on the maniturgium.

3)  You’ll need to explain how you want it to be laid out on the maniturgium – top line, centered, near the left end, etc.

4)  Let us know what font style you’d like.  And if you want different fonts for different parts, make sure that it is noted.  I’ve attached a picture of some sample fonts at the end of this note, but if you want something else, just let us know the name of the font style.  If you do choose one from the attached picture, be sure to tell what number (#) the font is.

5)  Tell us what color of thread you’d like it to be sewn in.  The colors used on the font styles in the picture below are not the only choices you have.   If you want a different color than what is pictured below, then be specific and send a picture and name of the color from a palette if possible – cardinal red, crimson red, light purple, dark purple (grape), baby blue, royal blue, etc.   The embroiderer will then do the best she can to match your choice.  If you want different colors for different parts, make sure to note what color for which lettering and/or symbol.

6)  Last of all we need to know the approximate size of the lettering for each part, and the size of the symbol if you’re having one.  But rest assured that if what you tell us won’t work, we’ll suggest an alternative that will work.   We just need an initial idea of what you want.

Here’s a sample of how you might write out this information in a simple, but organized way.

* First line:
- +  Tu Es Sacerdos In Aeternum  +
- centered both ways
- font #6
- pro red thread
- about 1” tall

- Crusader cross about 1” in front of and 1” after the verse
- gold metallic thread
- about 3/4" across and tall

* Second line:
- your name
- on the left side, beginning about 2” in from the edge
- font #5
- mauve thread
- about 1/2” tall
(as noted below - font #6  (Old English) does not work well at 1/2" tall)

- date
- on the right side, ending about 2" in from the edge
- font #5
- mauve thread
- about 1/2” tall
